<item><hi format=bold>XT-37:</hi> The three prototype aircraft were designated XT-37 to indicate the experimental nature of their evaluation for the basic training role.

<item><hi format=bold>T-37A:</hi> Five hundred and thirty-four production T-37As were ordered between 1954 and 1959, with the majority being upgraded to T-37B standard subsequently. Thirty-nine early production T-37As were converted to A-37A standard as proof of concept.
